IDEA Lab,Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship & Action Lab,is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary maker space at Bangalore Technological Institute, designed to foster creativity, hands-on learning, and innovation-driven problem solving among students and faculty.
About the IDEA Lab
Established under the BTI Incubation Centre initiative, the IDEA Lab provides students from all engineering disciplines a collaborative environment to design, prototype, test, and iterate on real-world solutions. The lab bridges the gap between classroom theory and industry-relevant practical skills.
Facilities
- Prototyping Zone: 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and PCB fabrication equipment
- Electronics Workbenches: Oscilloscopes, function generators, soldering stations, microcontroller kits (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32)
- Software Suite: CAD/CAM tools, simulation software, AI/ML development environments
- Collaboration Space: Open seating, whiteboards, and presentation screens for design reviews and brainstorming
- IoT & Robotics Corner: Sensors, actuators, robotic kits, and automation modules
- Fabrication Materials: Raw materials and components for mechanical, electrical, and structural prototypes
Objectives
- Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and design thinking
- Support student projects from ideation to prototype to product
- Foster an entrepreneurial mindset through hands-on experimentation
- Bridge academia and industry by hosting workshops, hackathons, and expert sessions
- Provide a platform for student innovators to develop solutions for societal challenges

Who Can Use It?
The IDEA Lab is open to all BTI students, faculty members, and incubation centre startups. Students can book lab sessions through the department coordinators or the BTI Incubation Centre office.
